The Jura brings you a surprising mix of vegetation and wildlife together with the chance to enjoy a varied terrain of hills, lakes and cliffs. On the hiking trail maybe you may also get to see some chamois or a lynx!

Lake Chalain, the pearl of the Jura and the area’s largest natural lake, will enchant you with its changing colours from dark blue to turquoise depending on the weather. Discover the lake and its exceptional views whilst exploring the three marked trails accessible to all, on foot or bike: around the lake (12 km), but also: North Loop (4.5 miles), south loop (6 km) . This trail uses part of the route GR559.

From this viewpoint you can see each of the 4 lakes (La Chaux du Dombief) : Ilay, Narlay, Large and Small Maclu.
Discover the splendor of this huge artificial turquoise-coloured lake. The walk will take you to the heights surrounding the lakes – a great panorama !

A prominent place in the Lake District, the valley of the ‘Hedgehog’, with many rocks and cascades to stick in your memory! Walk between forest and cliffs and discover nature all around you. Do not miss the viewpoint (le belvédère de l’Eventail ) to admire one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the site. At the end of your walk you will find the Museum of waterfalls, a museum dedicated to space and visual splendor of the waterfalls and the history of the valley.

GR takes walkers up hill and down dale, crossing or walking along the sharp ridges, and often descending into hollows and valleys.
In all the path covers 95 km from east to west cross through all the levels and landscapes of the Jura. Running from Lons-le-Saunier to the heights of Les Rousses it provides a link between the GR 5 and GR 59 Redhead in Lons-le-Saunier.
Between November and April there is often snow on the higher areas of the course, making the trail impassable.
Called “Little Scotland” by writer Charles Nodie this mini area invites respect and mediation. At 800m above sea level, between the plateau and the High Jura mountain chain, the Lakes offer a remarkable diversity. In all there are 155 km of circular walks and a multitude of variations around the lakes and the Little Mountain. The Frasnois, Lac d’Antr e (Cave Lake), Lake Bonlieu, Moirans-en-Montagne, Vouglans lake, Clairvaux Lake…there’s plenty to see and do!
